POSITION: Freelance Designer/Part-Time Designer
REPORTS TO: Design Partner

OVERVIEW: The Designer / Art Director is a conceptual thinker and craft-obsessed maker who can take a brief and elevate it into something remarkable. You bring strong visual storytelling chops, brand sensibility, and the ability to move from big idea to polished execution without hand-holding.
You’ll collaborate closely with creative leadership, writers, and strategists to concept and produce exceptional brand identities, campaigns, and digital assets. You’ll be expected to bring initiative, push the work forward, and contribute original thinking. This freelance role has the potential to grow into a full-time position for the right fit.

Responsibilities:
- Lead or support design across branding, campaigns, digital, and social projects, ensuring strategic and visual excellence.
- Present work confidently, both internally and to clients, and articulate the rationale behind your creative decisions.
- Collaborate in brainstorming sessions, offering thoughtful, inspiring ideas rooted in strategy and modern design trends.
- Translate briefs into compelling creative concepts and bring them to life through polished execution.
- Mentor junior designers and interns when needed.
- Manage your own workload efficiently, hitting deadlines with minimal oversight.
- Stay current on design trends, tools, and emerging technologies, and bring those insights into the work.
Qualifications:
- 3-4 years (mid-level) of professional experience in graphic design, branding, advertising, or a related field.
- Strong portfolio showcasing brand identity, typography, layout, and concept-driven work.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Figma, and familiarity with motion or 3D tools is a plus.
- Ability to work 20–30 hours per week in a freelance capacity, with potential for increased hours if the partnership is a strong fit.
- Ability to attend occasional onsite team sessions or client meetings in Austin, TX (approximately twice per month).
- Excellent communication skills—written, verbal, and visual.
Compensation:
$50/hr to $80/hr, but let’s discuss.
